Bovey Tracey bowlers have been involved in a variety of competitions this week with some excellent performances and one or two disappointments.
In the County Men's over 60s singles, Roger Bailey recorded an excellent win by 22 shots to 16 against Rob Horrell of Abbrook Park. Roger teamed up with Kenny Breame in the County Men's Unbadged Pairs at Bitton Park, winning by 29 shots to 9. Tyler Smith had a great win in the County Men's Singles against Mark Turley-Green from Starcross by 21 shots to 11 but later lost to Phil Lannon from Abbrook Park by 13 shots to 21. Tyler was also involved in two further County Competitions. In the Men's Unbadged Triples playing with Phil Cridge and Alastair Franklin, they won a very close match at Dawlish Marina by 21 shots to 20 and in the Men's Grater Pairs Tyler and Les Hignett lost by 11 shots to 15. Les played with Heidi Call in the County Mixed Pairs, recording a great win by 18 shots to 13 at Newton Abbot. And in the last County Match to report, Kay Eldergill playing with Kenny and Sarah Breame in the Mixed Triples won by 17 shots to 12.
Bovey ladies played against Chudleigh in the South Devon League. The result couldn't have been closer with Chudleigh winning by two rinks to one and 50 shots to 49 overall to gain 8 league points to Bovey's 2. In the Ladies' 4-3-2-1 competition at Newton Abbot, Bovey won the singles, doubles and triples but were beaten quite heavily in the rink game to lose disappointingly by 7 shots overall. In the Ladies' Triples Challenge, Bovey found the all-weather surface at Ipplepen quite challenging and, despite their valiant efforts, they succumbed by 3 - 29 and 11 - 19 with Ipplepen taking all eight league points.
The Men's Over 55s X team welcomed Bitton Park and put in a good performance on both rinks to win by 24-19 and 18-9 and take all eight league points. However, in a reversal of fortune, the Y team played at Bitton Park and, despite losing by only three shots overall, Bovey gave up all eight league points.
And finally, in a Mixed Triples friendly at Marina, Dawlish, Bovey came away with wins on all four rinks and an aggregate score of 75 shots to 47.
