Alastair Franklin and Tyler Smith (pictured) of Bovey Tracey won their County Men's Pairs semi-final against Nigel Coombs and Dave Woods from Abbrook Park in a match of changing fortunes in which they were 9-0 ahead, then 10-15 down, eventually winning by 20 shots to 16. They will now contest the section final at home against another Abbrook team.
In the County Ladies' Benevolent Triples at Chudleigh, Christina Towle, Sue Johnson and Heidi Call won against teams from Shaldon and Chudleigh to reach a home semi-final which they lost to ladies from Bitton Park.
Bovey secured a much-needed result in the Men's Mid Devon League, winning by 12 points to 2 at home against Torquay B.
In the Ladies' South Devon League, Bovey achieved two good results during the week. At Kings they won by two rinks to one but were beaten overall to take 4 points to their hosts' 6, not bad against strong opposition on a difficult green. More encouragingly, they took all 10 points from a home match against Starcross to move off the bottom of Division 2 at last!
Both the Men's Over 55s teams were at home this week. The X men won by 6 points to 2 against division leaders Newton Abbot to move back up to third place whilst the Ys gained 2 points to Bitton Park's 6 to leave them still bottom.
At Paignton Torbay in a particularly enjoyable mixed triples friendly, Bovey won on three rinks taking the overall victory by 78 shots to 52.
