Bovey's men continued their run of poor results in the Mid Devon League with defeat at home against Newton Abbot. Their opponents had failed to win any of their previous matches and, despite Bovey being without five regulars, it was still most disappointing. An encouraging performance from the Over 55s Y team saw them defeat a strong Kingsteignton team to gain a valuable eight points to their opponents' nil. Bovey visited Brixham St Mary's in the ladies' South Devon League and secured a good win by two rinks to one on a challenging green. R Young, S Breame, S Johnson 17-12; Y Stanford, D Simpson, K Callard 8-25; S Davies, C Towle, H Call 27-9. Eight league points to Bovey, two to Brixham. In the same league, Bovey recorded their second win of the week at home to Dawlish Lawn, winning all three rinks to earn all ten league points. In a home mixed friendly against Buckfastleigh, the visitors emerged winners by 62 shots to 60 overall and a visit to Okehampton resulted in Bovey winning by 109 shots to 85 in a six rink triples match.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - The club is holding a CAR BOOT SALE on Sunday 10th August at the recreation ground on Newton Road, Bovey Tracey. Sellers should arrive between 7.00 - 7.30 a.m. to set up. Charges are £5 for cars and £7 for vans. Members of the public are welcome to shop from 8.00 a.m. until midday.
