In a fairly quiet week at Bovey Tracey there was only one competitive match to report on, a men's Over 55s, with Bovey visiting Starcross for their first game of the season in this competition. Bovey are entering only one team this season in the X Division so there should be no shortage of players as in the past. Starcross put out a strong team which was reflected in the scores, winning by two rinks to nil. A Walding, C Shorland, K Lockett 13-23; P Cridge, S Callard, R Bailey 10-39. Match points: - Bovey Tracey 0 - Starcross 8.
The Club's Open Day proved to be very successful, aided by summer deciding to appear at last for one day! A total of 25 visitors registered their interest in bowling with nine signing up to join on the day, a great result and testament to the efforts of the sub-committee and all those members who turned up on the day to help out.
The first Friday club social evening also took place. This is a weekly meeting where members turn up, book in and have a friendly roll-up or just a drink and chat. The atmosphere is encouraged to be free-and-easy, there is no dress code and the bar will be open. Arrival time between 5.30 - 6.00 p.m.
Anyone interested in bowling who might have missed the official open day is welcome to drop in too.
