Bovey Tracey teams have been active in various competitions during the past week.
Two matches in the men's Mid Devon League produced contrasting results. Away at Shaldon, Bovey managed to salvage a draw from the four rinks, losing on the other three to gain one league point to Shaldon's 13. C Young, K Lockett, A Tremlett, P Joy 11-21; D Anderson, K Isaaks, D Johnson, T Ridgewell 13-24; A Chew, J Hampton, T Smith, A Franklin 25-25; A Walding, S Perry, P Cridge, K Breame 17-21. The other match, away at Brixham St Marys, played in windy conditions, resulted in a win for Bovey by 10 league points to four with two wins each. K Lockett, D Wraighte, T Smith, A Franklin 28-15; K Breame, K Isaaks, L Hignett, T Ridgewell 21-12; C Young, A Chew, A Tremlett, P Joy 18-19; P Cridge, G Stapleton, D Johnson, R Bailey 13-20.
In the South Devon League, Bovey's ladies visited Kings, Torquay. A decent performance saw them win on one rink and get close on another but overall Kings took the match by eight league points to two. R Young, K Callard, S Breame 12-21; S Davies, D Simpson, S Johnson 13-16; D Bailey, C Towle, H Call 18-15. Staying with the ladies, in the Grace Matthews competition Bovey were handed a tough match away at Shaldon, resulting in just one win from the five disciplines. Four wood singles- H Call 21-7; two wood singles- S Breame 16-18; pairs- R Young, D Simpson 15-19; triples- S Davies, L Cridge, S Johnson 5-22; Rink- J Ellis, M Bolt, C Towle, K Callard 11-23.
Both the men's Over 55s X and Y teams were at home this week. Against Buckfastleigh, the X team won both rinks, gaining eight league points to nil. The Ys won one and lost one against Abbrook Park, losing overall on total shots with the league points going 6-2 to the visitors. A Chew, D Wraighte, R Bailey 10-16; S Perry, P Cridge, A Franklin 17-13. A rearranged Over 55s Y match at home against Dawlish Marina produced just one league point for Bovey to Marina's seven. S Perry, D Wraighte, A Franklin 17-17; A Chew, P Cridge, R Bailey 17-23.
In other competitions, Sarah and Kenny Breame won 23-6 in the County Mixed Pairs with Heidi Call and Les Hignett also winning 22-16. In club competitions, Dick Wraighte won 18-12 against Dave Cosway in the men's two woods, Julie Chew won 16-9 against Deb Simpson in the ladies' two woods, Annette Isaaks won 21-16 against Deb Simpson in the four woods and Rose Young won 22-11 against Lucy Brothwood, also in the four woods.
