What began as a very wet morning turned into a lovely bright afternoon for the Captain vs President annual closing of the green event.

Our Captain made it clear by arriving in a Sou'wester that he was playing whatever the weather and so at 2pm just under 40 members squelched out onto the sodden green to do battle in honour of Kenny the Captain or Steve the incoming President..

We played manfully (or is that personfully) through the rain for a few ends & then it stopped... so as in all bowling time honoured fashion, we broke for tea (Hoping it would rain again)... it didn't!!!, so we played out the second half under blue skies..

Although Kenny did his best by running out a comfortable victor on his rink, the rest of his footsoldiers were not up for the fight, and most comprehensively lost, meaning that Steve,s team ran out very comfortable winners on the day...

The day was rounded off by a smashing Pastie/Pudding/Pint offer which was well received (well done Jane and all the pudding suppliers) & the usual "How many raffle prizes can the Franklins get in their boot" scenario...(see photo of Alistair leaving the car park)

So ends another years summer bowling, look forward to seeing you all at the various winter social events being organised & perhaps at the winter bowls being held in various locations..
