This week at Bovey Tracey saw fewer matches scheduled as the summer season draws to a close with less than three weeks until the official green closure.
The important fixture of the week was Bovey's final Mid Devon League match against Marldon, already crowned division 2 champions with only one prior loss throughout the season. This made Bovey's victory by three rinks to one all the more satisfying and the 12 league points gained should enable Bovey to finish third or fourth once the final tables are published.
In the Over 55s competition, the Xmen took six points from their match against Dawlish Marina after winning overall by five shots. The Y team did well to share the rinks one all at Starcross but lost overall, gaining two league points.
In a home mixed triples friendly against Kingsteignton, Bovey won two rinks, drew one and lost one to win the match by six shots overall.
The club competition finals will take place over the weekend of 12th & 13th September but one event had to be played ahead of schedule owing to player availability. In the MixedDrawn Pairs final Nick Fletcher and Rose Young deservedly took the title by 24 shots to 16 against Ken Isaaks and Keith Lockett.
