Bowls Devon U17 Boys Singles Championship

Today, Brandon Baker represented Bovey Tracey Bowls Club in the Bowls Devon Junior Boys Singles Championship (Under 17), his first ever singles competition since joining the club.

Playing against some very talented bowlers, many of whom were 4 to 5 years older and far more experienced, Brandon grew in confidence throughout the round robin stage and produced some excellent bowls. Highlights included pushing both eventual finalists to the final shots of their sets, with the eventual champion commenting afterwards that Brandon had given him "his toughest match of the day".

The standard of bowling was outstanding, but equally impressive was the support shown by players, parents and spectators, with every good shot receiving warm applause and encouragement.

A huge thank you goes to Chris and Rose Young for their support throughout the day and for stepping in as scorers when needed.

A fantastic experience and a great achievement for Brandon. We are all very proud of his progress and look forward to seeing him continue to develop his game.
