With the bowls summer season now well under way at Bovey Tracey, matches in the various competitions are coming thick and fast.
In the Ladies' Triples Challenge, Bovey recorded a good home win against Totnes by two rinks to nil, 20-16 & 14-13 to take six league points. Away at Ilsington they found the all weather surface challenging and did manage a win on one rink by 15-14 but lost the other 9-27, giving them two points to Ilsington's four.
The first matches in the Men's Over 55s Triples League saw the Bovey X team at home to Kingsteignton, winning on both rinks, 20-16 & 22-11 to earn eight league points. The Y team, on the other hand, lost both rinks by 6-17 & 11-17, despite promising starts, giving Chudleigh all eight league points.
In a mixed rinks home friendly against Sir Francis Drake, Plymouth, Bovey won two and lost two rinks with SFD winning by 10 shots overall. Rink scores were 10-26, 21-11, 21-14 & 12-24 and Bovey's winning skips were Heidi Call and Kath Callard. Bovey played host to Ottery St Mary in another mixed rinks home friendly, winning by 14-12 on one rink but losing the other three 13-23, 10-18 & 10-15 with the overall match score 47-68 to the visitors.
