There were fewer team fixtures for Bovey this week than of late. Their men had a disappointing week in their competitions, losing both their Over 55s matches and their Mid Devon League game. At home to Teignmouth Den, the Over 55s X team were able to draw one rink to gain just one league point to their opponents' seven. D Anderson, S Callard, K Lockett 16-19; L Fullbrook, N Fletcher, C Shorland 14-14. A similar result was achieved by the Y team at Totnes. K Isaaks, D Wraighte, K Breame 10-27; A Chew, P Cridge, R Bailey 17-17. In the MDL, Bovey had a return fixture at Marldon following their close defeat at home last week. Unfortunately, it wasn't at all close this time, Bovey losing by 51 shots to 99 overall, earning Marldon 14 league points to their nil. A Chew, K Isaaks, L Hignett, T Ridgewell 17-29; J Hampton, A Tremlett, T Smith, A Franklin 10-34; K Lockett, A Cromwell, D Johnson, R Bailey 12-22; K Breame, P Cridge, C Young, C Shorland 12-14.
The ladies had a more encouraging result in the South Devon League at home to Brixham St Mary's where they won two rinks with one drawn to earn nine league points to their opponents' one. Y Stanford, D Simpson, K Callard 23-13; J Ellis, S Breame, S Johnson 19-17; C Towle, D Bailey, H Call 16-16. However, a visit to Chudleigh resulted in their being knocked out of the 4321 competition.
Bovey were delighted to welcome a team representing the Devon Patrons for a mixed friendly, resulting in a close win for Bovey by 62 shots to 60 overall. At the half-time break, a full afternoon tea was enjoyed by all as was a welcome drink and friendly chat after the game.
