This week's matches produced a mixed bag of results for Bovey Tracey.
The men finally got to play their first Mid Devon League match of the season at Newton Abbot and came away with an excellent win by three rinks to one and 82 shots to 66. C Young, A Tremlett, C Shorland, P Joy 17-31; D Anderson, K Isaaks, L Hignett, E Ridgewell 20-11; K Lockett, D Cosway, A Franklin, R Bailey 27-8; D Wraighte, C Miall, D Johnson, K Breame 18-16. League points, Newton Abbot 2 - Bovey Tracey 12.
The following morning the men's Over 55s X team returned to Newton Abbot but could not repeat the previous evening's success, losing on both rinks. League points, Newton Abbot 8 - Bovey Tracey 0. Despite this setback, the team are relatively happy with their early season results, having won two of their three matches, all played away from home. The Y Division team's opposition requested a postponement of their match, leaving them with no game this week.
In the latest round of the Ladies' Triples Challenge, Bovey had a good win against Fast Tots by 41 shots to 23. B Vooght, A Isaaks, S Breame 23-11; K Eldergill, L Brothwood, R Young 18-12.
A couple of mixed friendlies produced similar outcomes with the rinks split two each but going the way of the opposition on overall scores in both matches. The home match against Dawlish Marina was won 65 shots to 59 by Dawlish. At Tiverton West End the home side won by 70 shots to 62.
