This was another busy week for Bovey with matches in a variety of competitions. Beginning with the teams, there were two matches in the men's Mid Devon League producing opposing results. Away at Torquay Belgrave, Bovey won overall by three shots to gain ten league points to their hosts' four. D Wraighte, J Hampton, T Smith, A Franklin 17-24; D Anderson, K Isaaks, D Johnson, R Bailey 21-13; C Young, A Tremlett, C Shorland, P Joy 19-22; A Walding, P Cridge, K Lockett, K Breame 20-15. In the home match against Marldon, the winning margin was even closer with Marldon shading it by just two shots overall to earn ten league points to Bovey's four. D Anderson, K Isaaks, L Hignett, T Ridgewell 12-21; K Lockett, D Wraighte, T Smith, A Franklin 16-19; D Cosway, A Cromwell, D Johnson, R Bailey 19-10; K Breame, A Tremlett, C Shorland, P Joy 17-16.
A home match against Brixham, Furzeham in the ladies' South Devon League resulted in a good win for Bovey by 52 shots to 44, earning them eight league points to their opponents' two. There were a couple of disappointing results for Bovey in the men's Over 55s leagues. In the X division, Bovey, in second place in the league, hosted Starcross, the team leading the division, which made their defeat by eight league points to nil even harder to take. K Lockett, S Callard, P Joy 13-16; L Fullbrook, J Richards, C Shorland 12-27. It was a similar story in the Y division where Bovey lost eight points to nil at Newton Abbot. D Cosway, A Chew, K Breame 13-23; A Cromwell, D Wraighte, A Franklin 8-21.
A couple of away mixed triples friendlies resulted in two wins for Bovey, by 68 shots to 63 at Topsham and by 54 shots to 41 at Paignton Torbay.
As the club competitions progress, results are coming in thick and fast. Men's handicap; Chris Shorland 22-3 Arthur Chew. Men's two woods; Tyler Smith 14-15 Chris Shorland.
